File Formats
• PDF X-1a or PDF preferred
• QuarkXPress, and Adobe InDesign files are also accepted
• Files must include all fonts and images (hi-res scans, logos, artwork, etc.)
• 133 line screen and 300% maximum density
• Please see separate sheet for further information on digital file preparation

Proofs
Furnish 2 digital contact proofs (i.e. Kodak Approval, CREO Spectrum, Iris Realist) made from the supplied file.  Proofs must meet all SWOP specifications and must include a 6mm 5%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% CMYK patch strip for color quality control.

Notes
• Gutter safety for spread creative should be 1/8" total.

Digital File Preparation

Printing Information
CFO magazine is produced with a computer-to-plate workflow and is printed on web offset presses. The magazine is saddle stitched. CFO subscribes to SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) standards.

General File Prep
• Please include standard trim, bleed and center marks in all separations, 1/2" outside of the trim.
• Please make files right-reading, 100% of final size, with no rotations.
• File to contain only 1 page or 1 spread.
• Use only postscript fonts or TrueType. Multiple Master fonts are not accepted.
• Please restrict file names to alpha and numeric characters with the dot (.) extensions to indicate file type.
• Trap TIFF/IT-P1 and DCS 2.0 files. Do NOT trap other files.
• Files should be CMYK colorspace, with other colors used only when the advertiser is running a 5th color.

PDF
We recommend that you check the PDF by viewing it in Acrobat and printing a hard copy from a machine different than the one that created the file, without loading or opening fonts and art.  This will verify the file and show if the fonts and art have been successfully embedded. Remember, most PDF formats do not allow 5th colors.  Trapping will be done in Production.

QuarkXPress & InDesign
Include all fonts. Use only Type 1 or OpenType fonts. Include all hi-res images, SWOP, CMYK, or grayscale, resolution of 266 dpi or higher.  No RGB and no JPEG.  Do not embed color profiles. Do not "nest" EPS files.  Trapping will be done in Production.

Please place the ad in the folder for the appropriate month and contact Laura Iverson when it has been posted so that the file may be retrieved.
