Director of Finance and Administration
Company Overview
Our company is an Internet marketer and distributor of memory and other component upgrades, as well as, high quality customized USB flash pen drives for promotional purposes. We operate two web businesses targeting corporate, educational and government customers. The company is focused on providing exceptional customer service and great products. Since 1999 we have served over 750,000+ satisfied customers both online and offline. During this time we have achieved impressive revenue and have no debt.
The company is both profitable and enjoys excellent financial performance, sales growth, quality products and service. We have ambitious growth plans, and in order to capitalize on our past success, we are adding members to the management team who bring new skills and talents who can help shape our future. Our next strategic hire will be that of Director of Finance and Administration.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the CEO and President, this Director will be the top financial person who will be responsible for creating financial structure, processes and systems for the company as well running a shared services organization for both businesses. The end result will be a financial division that can truly support the company’s growth plans by providing data to help make business decisions and improve the working capital of the company. This director must have previous success working closely with operations and other divisions to diagnose problems and implement systems and processes to improve financial accountability and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Experience managing a small financial support team.
- Accounting for the individual and consolidated companies: Design and preparation of all Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Management controls. This includes monthly and year-end closing, financial statement preparations, preparation and commentary, approval of the journal entries, account reconciliation, and the preparation and adherence to the monthly close calendar.
- Budget Process: Development of a budget calendar and process, and preparation of the budgets with the cooperation of the leadership team to clearly communicate the key events and metrics to drive performance of the business. This includes the development of financial metrics and to audit and consult with the other members of management to design performance metrics of each functional area.
- HR operations to include payroll. Assure timely, accurate, and documented HR processes. (The companies’ outside HR consultant defines the HR policies.)
- Bank arrangements. Project cash requirements and work with the CEO to negotiate and manage appropriate financial arrangements.
- Inventory Control processes. To help design and assure appropriate controls are in place to accurately measure and manage inventory efficiently. Assure appropriate reserve calculations.
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Management. To assure timely receipts and payments. To identify, recommend, and drive process changes to improve cash flow management. Assure appropriate reserve calculations.
Background and Requirements:
- Education: Required BBA; CPA or MBA highly desired
- Experience: Prior experience in a controllership role for a manufacturing or distribution business. Must have been responsible for designing and implementing controls, financial statement preparation and analysis, and reported to an operations head.
- Years of Experience: At least 10 years business experience with a successful track record and excellent references.
- Management Skills: Must have the ability to work with and train others, analyze the issues, and develop a vision and a practical approach to achieve that vision. Must be an excellent communicator and work well the management team.
