Job Description
E&D Finance has a unique opportunity available for a dynamic individual to lead the Accounting & Reporting process for E&D Hardware Product Costs. This Group Finance Manager will manage a 5 professional team, focused on providing superior Accounting, Reporting, Value-Add analysis, Compliance and Controls. The MSCIS Operations Team globally manages the manufacturing, distribution and customer support on the majority of MSFT consumer products. The Product Costs for these products (Xbox, Zune, PC Hardware, Surface) are ~US$3+ billion per year.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide excellent Business Insight on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) to the MSCIS Leadership team and the Business Groups (BGs) with focus on adding value to the business by explaining not only the “what” but mainly the “why”. If you want to have exposure to a wide range of industry-leading consumer products and the platform for driving management decisions and strategies, this is the position that you should consider.
Key functions that this role will be responsible for include:
Provide consolidated monthly COGS reporting & analysis to MSCIS Leadership team and other ad-hoc analysis
Establish and maintain financial analysis processes to align with corporate, E&D Central Finance, and Zune BG
Lead monthly sync meetings with Zune BG for providing COGS flashpoints and presenting financial content to BG CFO on annual performance and strategic outlook
In partnership with the MSCIS FP&A team, drive identification & tracking of cost saving initiatives to support achievement of E&D Hardware commitments
Working closely with business and finance leaders to determine consistent metrics, measures, reporting and analysis
Drive business partner engagement, interaction, and satisfaction
Maintain a control environment, that is compliant with Company policies and SOX
Lead and manage a team of 5 analysts/finance managers
Qualifications/ Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required with 10+ years experience within a finance environment, preferably with MS business or operations groups. CPA or MBA preferred.
Demonstrated business partner support experience or cross functional support experience or distributed team support experience.
Candidate must have the ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management, with the capability to guide, educate, & influence the thinking of senior decision makers.
Candidate must have the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, has excellent attention to detail, and works effectively under deadline constraints.
Ability to achieve results both through individual and cross team efforts, show a propensity for learning, and demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, interpret, and deliver sound solutions.
People manager experience of 3+ years
Effective written & verbal communication skills and experience in presentations to senior executives.
Passion for creating shareholder value
Must be flexible, adaptable, and proactive.
Strong competency with Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Excellent skills with MS Finance tools (e.g. MARS, Calypso, MS People)
